With ‘theatre that makes you grow’ Het Laagland encourages children and adults alike to discover what truly motivates them and to trust their resilience. The connection between different generations is the foundation for every choice the company makes. Het Laagland wants everyone, especially children, to experience being truly seen and heard.
Since 2020, Het Laagland can also be found in Geleen Zuid. Here, as part of the ZuidZone project, the company explores what feeling at home means in a neighbourhood full of change. Local residents, also known as ‘wijkmakers’, collaborate with theatre professionals and artists as equals. Any theme or method the wijkmakers think is interesting or important can be the start of a project. In doing so, wijkmakers discover new perspectives and talents, gain more confidence and connect with themselves and each other.
ZuidZone is a collaboration with housing association ZOwonen and Via Zuid, a talent development program from Limburg. The project also receives financial support from the Cultural Participation Fund. Furthermore, partners from social services are involved with ZuidZone.
