Care & Culture

Dance Music Theatre

Europe, The Netherlands, Haarzuilens

Care & Culture is a participatory music, dance and theatre initiative for the elderly in their own living environments. In addition to Dutch subsidies, this project has received an EU Gruntvig grant to cooperate with community cultural centres in other European countries. For ICAF 2014, Care & Culture will produce a special version of its ‘chamber operas’ in a Rotterdam-based retirement home.

Care&Culture develops projects at the intersection of care, the environment and culture. “Take care” is applied in the broadest sense of the word: for each other, for our loved ones, for the world around us. Close by, further away and above all: always up to date!

The foundation has an encouraging and advisory role. They like to work with (freelance) experts from the field. The collaboration with external production and organisation bureaus also plays a crucial role: this bureau brings the initiatives to fruition based on its expertise. To ultimately make them more sustainable.
In doing so, they aim to set up training programs around the completed projects.
