Many of you will remember the mesmerizing parade which opened our ICAF festival last March. The creator of that event was Catalina García, a Colombian artist from Medellín who has worked for many years with Caja Lúdica in Guatemala. She is now back in her native city to work with Barrio Comparsa, a local arts organization that works in the neighbourhoods of that city to make a difference through colourful art in public space. The Rotterdam Dance and Music Academy Codarts has now invited Catalina back to the Netherlands to teach their students the ins and outs of parade making. During the same trip, Catalina will also conduct workshops in Arnhem (for Kunstbedrijf to prepare for a spring ritual) and Utrecht (for the Sharing Arts Society to help inspire a large parade will be part of the start of the Tour the France). And we’re happy because Catalina will be with us on 2 April for the book launch and the film premiere.
