Urban Gorillas was founded in 2012 by theatre directors Andreas Bachmair and Anne Rooschüz. Their main aim is to reach both conventional theatre audiences and audiences that have little to no experience with experimental performance. Urban Gorillas regard audiences not only as passive viewers, but also as active participants. For that reason, they invite them to participate in workshops, observe transparent artistic processes, and to become involved in discussions after the shows.
