The book documents the creation of community theatre with socially excluded and marginalised people in four European countries. The main focus of productions during the COAST project was migration: the impact on host communities of new arrivals, the social and economic pressures which result in people leaving their home and ‘crossing borders,’ the difficulties and dangers of being a ‘stranger in a strange land’. The book gathers personal remarks from the trainers, actors and the audience on the long journey from the rehearsals to the final performance.
