Activist Camp with Ed Carroll and François Matarasso

Activist Camp with Ed Carroll and François Matarasso

On 17th and 18th of June the Activist Summer Camp was organised in Galway by Ed Carroll and Vita Geluniene.  The camp intended to build bridges between 35 activists and artists working in diverse ways at the community level. They moved from conversation towards practice sites that test the power of community art, culture and activism for social transformation. In an inspired talk, François Matarasso gave insight into the historical context of community and participatory art and provided the background to his own personal quest for quality in what he prefers to call ‘a restless art’. At the beginning of August we received an email from Ed and Vita saying: “Without ICAF this visit and video would not have happened”

We love it when ICAF leads to these kinds of new liaisons. That is why we exist.
