This past March, Catalina García returned to the Netherlands to conduct an extended workshop on parade making at Codarts University of the Arts. During her sojourn in Holland Catalina also gave an inspiring presentation in Utrecht on the work of Barrio Comparsa in her hometown Medellín and facilitated a spring ritual in Arnhem’s Immerloo Park. Kunstbedrijf Arnhem has now asked her to come back to create a new parade for Friday 10 July.
In the meantime, Barrio Comparsa’s methodology has also inspired a parade co-created with residents from 10 different communities that will be moving through Utrecht on Friday 3 July, the eve of the start of the Tour de France, which this year will begin on Saturday 4 July with a time trial in this Dutch city.
