Over the course of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings of ICAF, we warmly welcome Athens Comics Library/Comicdom Press to facilitate a series of workshops where you can create your own Take Away Art Pack, which will be opened and shared with the children of the IJsselmonde Neighborhood, where ICAF has its headquarters, during our Saturday family day.
The Take Away Art Pack is a DIY creativity pack that children can enjoy at home together with their parents or caregivers that stimulates creative storytelling through a do-it-yourself, empowering approach. The making of the packs will be accompanied by discussions led by dr. Lida Tsene, researcher and teaching associate at the MA Program Communication and New Journalism at the Open University of Cyprus, around the value and impact of creative arts in early education for trauma healing and community engagement.
Non-profit organisation Comicdom Press was founded in 2004. Amongst their many activities is the annual Comics Festival, Comicdom Con, which takes place in Athens and attracts over 15,000 visitors and has been running since 2006. As well as this, they run Athens Comics Library, the first-ever Greek comic library, where they design and facilitate educational workshops for young people, students, schools, teachers, and librarians, as well as workshops for adults which use creative storytelling and comics.
