A unique view inside this audacious project by Laïla Amezian and Laurent Blondiau. Videomaker Iwona Pom followed the two artistic directors and the other musicians during Les Sheikhs Shikhats & B’net Chaabi’s first steps. From the creation of the group at a residency in CC Strombeek, till their first concert at Muziekpublique in the spring of 2021. Interviews and behind the scenes footage offer you exclusive insights about the origins and development of this bold artistic project.
Alluring melodies, enchanting vocals, breathtaking brass instruments and an explosive chaabi groove. Les Sheikhs Shikhats & B’net Chaabi are 18 vocalists and top musicians with very diverse backgrounds bringing you contemporary compositions, based on Moroccan repertoires from the end of the 19th century.
