Alan is vooral bekend als pleitbezorger voor de community art-beweging, internationale samenwerking en ensembletheaterpraktijk. Hij was artistiek directeur van The Northern Stage Ensemble, Newcastle upon Tyne (1992-2005), artistiek directeur van TAG Theatre Company, Glasgow (1988-1992) en associate director bij <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dundee_Repertory_Theatre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dundee Rep<\/a> (1984-1988). Zijn toneelbewerking van George Orwell&#8217;s <em>1984 <\/em>is geproduceerd in theaters over de hele wereld, waaronder lange runs in de VS, Duitsland en Frankrijk. Sinds 2015 werkt Allan als associate Artist bij<strong> Mind The Gap Theatre. <\/strong> Mind the Gap is het grootste theatergezelschap voor leerstoornissen in Engeland dat werk cre\u00ebert voor een Brits en internationaal publiek.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Sinds 2014 is Alan artistiek directeur van<strong> The Performance Ensemble. <\/strong> Dit gezelschap is een ensemble van oudere performers (60 jaar en ouder) met verschillende culturele achtergronden en cre\u00ebert hedendaags theater voor publiek van alle leeftijden.
