Getrude Vimbayi Munhamo Pfumayarambais a performance artist with wide experience in theatre, television and radio, translation and voiceover in 4 languages, the voice of Econet and Telecel over 12 years, and a certified life coach who is passionate about “the transformation of the industries and individuals through mindset shift and skills development through the invincible power of emotional intelligence”.

Among many other performances, Getrude played a leading role in the Nhimbe Trust production ‘Blood Tongue: The Musical’ from 2018, which explored leadership accountability, the manipulative excesses of the political elite, and the struggles faced by strong-willed women in present-day Zimbabwe. It’s tour started from The Bulawayo Theatre, moved on to the Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo, and the Emalahleni Artists Preserving Heritage Festival in Mpumalanga, South Africa. In 2018 Blood Tongue played at Intwasa Festival koBulawayo, Harare’s REPS Theatre, and returned to South Africa for the Kwaguqa International Arts Festival.

She is also a storyteller and writer, and as well as writing 9 theatre plays, she has toured, run workshops on acting and writing, and performed at festivals in Bulawayo and Harare, and beyond our borders in seven African countries, Scotland and the Netherlands, through her play ‘Lamentations @12’ which ran for 3 years. She has worked with UNICEF, IOM, Doctors Without Borders, PSI, MISA, HIVOS, USAID and various embassies on different projects to date.

Getrude Munhamo is a board member of Zimbabwe Theatre Association, International Theatre Institute (Zimbabwe), Artistic Director at Dendere Arts Trust, and has served the Arterial Network Zimbabwe as Treasurer. In 2021 The Zimbabwe Theatre Academy recognised and honoured Getrude’s commitment and investment towards the development of theatre in Zimbabwe.
