As a closing ritual for the international ICAF <\/em>community that has gathered here in Rotterdam, H\u00e9ctor Aristiz\u00e1bal invites participants into a collective act of farewell and integration. Through image, gesture, and imagination, festival visitors are invited to give form to what has been felt and learned – crossing the threshold from the gathering back into the world with greater presence, connection, and care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

H\u00e9ctor is a theater maker, ritual practitioner, and cultural facilitator with over forty years of experience working at the intersection of community arts, collective healing, and social transformation. Trained in Theatre of the Oppressed, he founded\u202fImaginAction<\/em>\u202fin 2000 and has worked in more than fifty countries supporting processes of conflict transformation and collective trauma healing. Since returning to Colombia in 2017, H\u00e9ctor has been co-creating\u202fRe-Conectando<\/em>, a cultural laboratory responding to the deep social and ecological fractures left by decades of armed conflict. Re-Conectando creates immersive laboratories in natural settings where theater, deep ecology, and contemporary ritual converge, offering shared ceremonial spaces for storytelling, witnessing, and the careful transformation of lived experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This farewell ritual is an invitation to pause, to listen, and to remember that culture, at its roots, is not only something we consume or produce, but something we\u202fpractice together<\/em> – especially in times that ask us to grieve, to let go, and to begin again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

H\u00e9ctor Aristiz\u00e1bal, geboren in Medell\u00edn, Colombia, is therapeut, acteur, regisseur en activist met meer dan 40 jaar ervaring. In 1989 werd hij gedwongen naar de Verenigde Staten te emigreren vanwege het geweld in zijn thuisland. Daar werkte hij als tweetalig therapeut met kwetsbare groepen, waaronder hiv\/aids-pati\u00ebnten, bendeleden, gevangenen en vluchtelingen. In 2000 richtte hij ImaginAction op, een organisatie waarmee hij in meer dan 50 landen heeft samengewerkt om conflicten te transformeren en collectieve trauma's te helen door middel van theater. <\/p>\n\n

In 2017 keerde H\u00e9ctor terug naar Colombia en was medeoprichter van DreamingAction en Re-Conectando om culturele transformatie en genezing te bevorderen in het kader van het vredesakkoord. Zijn werk is bekroond met verschillende prijzen, waaronder de Otto Ren\u00e9 Castillo Award, en wordt beschreven in zijn autobiografie, geschreven samen met Diane Lefer, The Blessing Next to the Wound<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n
