Singer and community artist Maia Steinberg<\/strong> brings her project Voices of the Earth<\/strong> to Rotterdam South for ICAF. In this participatory project, local residents come together to explore what the Earth means to them, and which personal memories, sounds and emotions are connected to it. Alongside local participants and international ICAF guests, Maia works towards a collective Sunday afternoon concert in the main auditorium of Theater Zuidplein, presented as part of the closing programme of ICAF 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this very final performance of the festival, the audience is invited to take part; to collectively create space for imagination; to make themselves heard; to carry the stories of others through sound. This concert is an example of the strength of a community. For the performance, the entire neighbourhood is welcome to join; young and old, from near and far. Voices of the Earth<\/strong> is an open and welcoming community concert in which encounter, connection and collective strength take centre stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maia Steinberg (MAGU)<\/strong> is a Uruguayan singer, composer, sound & song therapist, community musician, interdisciplinary creator, and cultural entrepreneur. She studied Composition in Uruguay, completed a Master\u2019s in Audiovisual Composition in France, and earned additional Bachelor and Master degrees in classical voice in the Netherlands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a composer, Maia has written music for film, video games, theatre, opera, museums, and interdisciplinary projects, with award-winning works in Uruguay, France, and Chile. She is the first female composer in Uruguay to premiere an opera in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a singer, she has performed at renowned venues including the Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium de Lyon, and Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Gen\u00e8ve, and has taken part in concerts, festivals, and opera productions across Europe and Uruguay. Rooted in her Latin-American heritage, she has led and created various folklore and tango projects in France and the Netherlands, and develops wellbeing-based music initiatives through MAGU (NL) and MANIFIESTO (UY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maia is the founder of ProjectA \u2013 A Voice Journey<\/strong>, an award-winning platform using vocal art for wellbeing and social impact.
