Following an extended online creative exchange during the previous years, Hobson Street Theatre and The Paulus Church have physically joined forces, for the first time, in Rotterdam in the week ahead of ICAF 2023. Over the course of six days of intensive workshops with a focus on \u201cencounter\u201d, starting from Thursday 23rd March, participants from both organisations have explored the theme of \u201cthe sound of change\u201d through a variety of artistic disciplines and media and by placing personal stories centerstage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results of this series of encounters and workshops will come together on the afternoon of Thursday 30 March for a public audience as part of a Paulus Podium, especially arranged for ICAF. The Paulus Podium will begin with a presentation from Pauluskerk and Hobson Streat Theatre to offer context into their organisations and ways of working. It will be followed by a screening of a short film production, made on-site during the six-days intensive workshops in Rotterdam. The Diaconal Center Pauluskerk supports all people in Rotterdam and surroundings that cannot survive without help: Homeless people, addicts, psychiatric patients, people without residence permit, people without employment, young adults that have no guidance for the way of life and vulnerable elderly people. The base of the Pauluskerk is the importance and the \u2018perspective of better\u2019 of these people. And so everybody is more than welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because of the bad economy, a lot of reductions at the social care and the healthcare and all the time stronger policies for foreigners and asylum it became more difficult to survive in this society. Without help it\u2019s barely possible to change this. Exactly those people we want to help. And through our activities we would like to offer them a new perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pauluskerk have an entire cultural programme dedicated to those who use their services.
