In deze sessie, waarbij direct online verbinding wordt gemaakt met professionals in India, wordt het boeiende verhaal verteld van een groot actieonderzoeksproject dat tussen 2019 en 2021 plaatsvond onder leiding van De Montfort Universiteit in Leicester (VK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De omvang van dit onderzoek is indrukwekkend, maar het begon allemaal met een kleinschalige community theatervoorstelling dat in 2018 op straat werd opgevoerd in een <em>basti<\/em> (een drukbevolkte achterstandswijk) in Pune, India. Vanuit deze community theatervoorstelling is de stichting MeHeLP in Kerala opgericht en werd duidelijk dat er behoefte was aan een veel grootschaligere aanpak. Dit onderzoek is een unieke samenwerking tussen twee grote organisaties die klinieken voor geestelijke gezondheidszorg runnen in de Indiase staat Kerala, de theatergezelschappen Excavate (VK) en Lokadharmi (India), en lokale filmmakers uit Kerala.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In deze internationale mini-conferentie spreken verschillende theatermakers en clinici uit het VK en India (deels in Rotterdam en deels online) over hoe toegepast theater gebruikt kan worden om gesprekken te faciliteren, waarbij ruimte wordt gemaakt voor gestigmatiseerde mensen wiens stemmen vaak onvoldoende of niet worden gehoord. Hoe werkte dat in India en wat hebben de makers en onderzoekers van dit onderzoeksteam in de afgelopen jaren geleerd?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deze bijeenkomst wordt gefaciliteerd door dr. Sanjana Kumar (lid van het Indiase theater- en onderzoeksteam) samen met Andy Barrett (artistiek directeur van theatergezelschap Excavate uit Nottingham, Engeland). Zij worden fysiek vergezeld door dr. Raghu Raghavan, hoofdonderzoeker van het project met jarenlange ervaring in de GGZ van zowel India als de VK. Online maken we live verbinding met clinici in Kerala die bij het project betrokken zijn geweest. Throughout that time they have worked with thousands of people in many different locations to create often very ambitious work with large casts of local people.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Over the last few years this has changed in response to funding issues and a deeper engagement with exploring particular issues with smaller amounts of people, and of extending the idea of community so that it is not merely place based. Whilst Excavate still work with local communities - and usually those that are labelled as being 'difficult to reach', 'cold spot', or 'socially and economically deprived' - they have found ourselves increasingly engaging with the world of health and wellbeing.
