A\u0101joor is de eerste speelfilm ooit gemaakt in de Bajjika-taal, een taal die door meer dan 20 miljoen mensen wordt gesproken in India en Nepal. De film speelt zich af op het platteland van Bihar, een van de grootste deelstaten van India. Dit is een regio waar veel mensen noodgedwongen wegtrekken om ongeschoold werk te verrichten. De film is volledig gemaakt binnen een arme plattelandsgemeenschap, zonder steun van grote productiebedrijven. Het maken van A\u0101joor was een gezamenlijk leerproces. Meer dan 100 kinderen uit de omgeving deden actief mee aan de productie en leerden over verhalen vertellen, acteren, kijken en andere creatieve vaardigheden. Het project doet een poging om, door het maken van films, de cyclus van armoede, migratie en beperkte kansen te doorbreken. A\u0101joor geeft een stem aan een taal, een regio en levensverhalen die vaak nauwelijks zichtbaar zijn, zelfs binnen India zelf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
