Met het verdwijnen van dit beroep raakten ook de ruim duizend brugwachtershuisjes in Nederland leeg en stil: ooit uitkijkposten van het dagelijks leven dat op straat voorbijtrok. In Overbruggen, een audioproject van audiomaker en journalist Bart Huijser (30), stap je het brugwachtershuisje op de Koninginnebrug binnen en luister je naar verhalen van omwonenden. Terwijl het iconische Rotterdamse panorama zich voor je uitstrekt, hoor je via de koptelefoon hoe hun doodnormale alledaagse leven zich ontvouwt. Soms volg je de verhalen van een afstand, soms overbrug je die afstand en lijkt het alsof je bij iemand in de woonkamer zit. Je hoort over de favoriete wandelroutes met de hond, een gesprek aan de keukentafel over favoriete muziek, of over multimiljardair Jeff Bezos die de geliefde Hefbrug wou demonteren voor zijn superjacht. Ondertussen dendert de stad onverstoorbaar door. Door de audio, die je blik en aandacht stuurt, wordt het huisje weer een venster op de stad en het alledaagse leven. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
