De principes van culturele&nbsp;democratisering&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;het idee dat&nbsp;het een&nbsp;publieke taak&nbsp;was&nbsp;om&nbsp;kunst en cultuur te verspreiden die door culturele autoriteiten als waardevol werden beschouwd&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;werden overgenomen door de nieuwe Europese verzorgingsstaten. Vanaf de jaren zestig werd dit steeds vaker ter discussie gesteld door idee\u00ebn over culturele democratie, waarin begrippen als pluralisme, participatie, gelijkwaardigheid en co-creatie als mensenrechten centraal kwamen te staan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vandaag de dag wordt cultuurbeleid&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;de basis waarop overheden kunstenaars en culturele voorzieningen ondersteunen&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;vaak onvoldoende begrepen, terwijl cultuur door verschillende politieke stromingen&nbsp;in toenemende mate&nbsp;instrumenteel wordt ingezet. Deze sessie gaat in op de achtergronden van deze ontwikkelingen en verkent principes van cultuurbeleid die geworteld zijn in mensenrechten en democratie, en die richting kunnen bieden in onzekere tijden.
